WHO WE ARE

We are a company in constant evolution: We were born as refinery and now we are in the process of evolving into a multi-energy company and a circular economy Hub. We are an example of permanent transformation, able to adapt to the needs of society and always committed to the aim of stimulating the boost of economic activity and generating quality employment in our environment.

We are an industrial and energy company with strong roots in the Bizkaia’s territory and the municipalities of Muzkiz, Abanto and Zierbena, where our plants are located and which we are proud to be part of; being good neighbors is part of our vision.

We are a company owned by Repsol (85,98%) and Kutxabank (14,02%), with more than 1,000 people who are part of Petronor’s direct workforce, and more than 6,000 who work with us through the companies who collaborate with and who share with us their experience and knowledge to make Petronor a better company every day.

We are a company transforming itself to respond to the needs of society. In this evolution process, we have successfully completed the ‘first great transformation’, based on a strong investment process to reduce the fuel oil production, which has a greater environmental impact, and increasing the production of gasoline, diesel and paraffin to respond to the social demand for cleaner mobility in different means of transport. Today, after the latest investment of almost 1,000 million in the Coke Unit, Petronor can operate with zero fuel oil production.

We are a committed company working to achieve the Repsol Group’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050. At Petronor, we invest in innovation and technology. This spirit has enabled us to launch a “second major transformation,” which began at the end of 2019, when the Repsol Group committed to becoming a net zero emissions company by 2050, in order to respond to society’s demand to tackle climate change. This transformation reflects Petronor’s vision as a multi-energy, highly efficient industry that stands at the center of an integrated energy and industrial ecosystem and leads a cluster focused on clean energy, circular economy, and innovation.
