EFFICIENCY

In the 2024–2028 period, Petronor plans to carry out 10 projects to improve the efficiency of the Refinery facilities for a total amount of 67.6 million euros.
Among them are electrification projects, projects to recover energy generated by refinery processes, fuel-saving initiatives, and heat recovery efforts that make the current refinery more efficient by reducing consumption, generating more of its own energy, and cutting CO2 emissions.
The combination of these results in a reduction of CO2 emissions from the Refinery by more than 79,833 tons of CO2 per year.
Among the projects, the acquisition of a new compressor worth 20 million euros for one of the Refinery Units stands out. This new compressor will be powered by an electric motor with a variable speed drive, which is more energy-efficient than the current condensing steam turbine.
