EFFICIENCY

In the 2024-2028 period, Petronor plans to conduct 12 improvement projects to enhance the efficiency of the refinery’s facilities for a total of 77 million euros.
These include electrification projects, recovery of the energy generated by the refinery’s processes, fuel saving and heat recuperation, which will make the actual refinery more efficient by reducing consumption, generating more of its own energy and lowering CO2 emissions.
All these projects together represent a reduction in the refinery’s CO2 emissions of 93,463 tons of CO2 per year.
One of the most significant projects is the acquisition of a new compressor worth 20 million euros for one of the refinery units. This new compressor will be driven by an electric motor with a variable speed drive, which is more energy efficient than the current condensation steam turbine.
